an introduction ...

coming soon ... all things food!  well, maybe not 'all' things, but my love of cooking and sincere passion for capturing images of food has prompted me to start a web page mainly for this purpose.  here you'll find photos as well as recipes for foods that I love to cook, along with photos of meals from our favorite eateries and of special meals we have with family and friends.  i'll also share a fav cookbook, or two, as well as yummy and informative sites I visit to glean a bit of food inspiration!  i'll occasionally throw in some extra tidbits on ways that we've used to stay healthy, and even those we've found that have helped us get well when we're under the weather.  we tend to avoid the conventional way of medicine, and lean more towards nutritional healing and other healthy alternatives ... we found it's kept us pretty healthy over the years.

this is my first entry, and right now i'm working at setting up this site, so it may take a little while to get things cookin' around here, but I do hope you'll come back to share in all of the 'yummy-ness' soon!  oh, and if you're curious about the name of my blog, here ... well, i'm a photographer working towards starting a small business, and i have another site - Borne Image Photography.  i wanted to keep it simple, hence the name Borne Image Food-o-graphy.  i look forward to meeting other food lovers, and will so appreciate your comments and thoughts on whatever the *menu of the day is!

to get things rolling, here is my first image and recipe that i hope will serve to tantalize your taste buds, hopefully bringing you back for more!  this is my
*summer veggie salad, and since summer is well under way, it has been a family favorite during those days when it's just too hot to cook!  enjoy!

- summer veggie salad -

{i do try to buy the freshest veggies at farmer's markets when available}

take one bunch of fresh broccoli
and one head of fresh cauliflower
cut those into florets

{sometimes I do find them already cut at Meijer's grocery store}

take a pint of cherry tomatoes and cut all of them in half
{some people prefer them whole ... I like mine halved}

thinly slice up some fresh carrots,
celery, cucumber, and green onions

combine all into large bowl

prepare a couple of envelopes of
*Good Season's Italian Salad Dressing Mix*

{*this is one of our favorite dressing flavors for this salad,
although I'm currently on a search for a similar homemade recipe that is free of the chemicals}

pour the dressing mix over the salad
stir to coat evenly
refrigerate at least a couple of hours before serving
to let those flavors 'marry'

before serving you can add any one,
or more of the following:

sunflower seeds
raisins
slivered almonds
walnuts
mandarin oranges

and finally,after plating it up,
you can also add a bit of crumbled feta cheese

do let me know how you like this,
and if you have other varieties of a
broccoli/cauliflower salad, please share!
i'm always looking for fresh new ways
to try my favorite veggies!

do let me know you dropped by -
i'd love to hear from you!
have a blessed week!
